Saturday, June 1st, 2024 and Sunday, June 2nd, 2024 - "Ella, Nat, and Frank, Big Band Style"
The Freedom Park Bandshell in the Town of
LaGrange will be the venue for a "Ella, Nat, and Frank,
Big Band Style" show presented by The
Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra to benefit the Sparrow's Nest local charity. Performances will be Saturday, June
1st at 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. and the suggested donation is

"Ella, Nat, and Frank, Big Band Style" will feature The Big Band Sound 25-piece jazz orchestra,
including six vocalists and swing dance performers, in a show spotlighting the
music of Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra. Ella, Nat, and
Frank collectively recorded more than five thousand different songs during
their careers, which spanned the Golden Age of Popular Music. They started off
singing with big bands and jazz combos during the swing era and then went on to
spectacular solo careers where they were often backed by the big bands of Duke
Ellington, Count Basie, and others. "Ella, Nat, and Frank, Big Band
Style"will highlight the best of those songs: the songs at the
core of the Great American Songbook that they brought into our lives, all in
the most exciting setting of a live big band.
Songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald that will be performed
include "Goody Goody" from her early big band years and
arrangements of "I'm In the Mood for Love" and "From
This Moment On" from her later solo tours. Tunes that Nat King Cole
introduced will include "Route 66" and "Straighten Up
and Fly Right" from his jazz combo days and "Unforgettable"
and "L-O-V-E" from after he became a TV star. Standards
popularized by Frank Sinatra will include "Saturday Night is the
Loneliest Night of the Week" from his early big band career and
arrangements of "The Best is Yet To Come" and "I've
Got the World on a String" from his later years. Other classics that
will be performed include "Don't Get Around Much Anymore",
"Yesterday", "Come Rain or Come Shine",
"Walkin' My Baby Back Home", and many more. The finale of the
show will be Sinatra's "Theme from 'New York, New York'".
Although tickets won't be required for entry, the
suggested donation is $20 per person, which can be made in advance by clicking here or at a performance. Proceeds from this show will
benefit the Sparrow's Nest local
charity. Sparrow's Nest of the Hudson
Valley provides meals to the families of caregivers and children diagnosed
with cancer. More information about Sparrow's

Big Band Sound has performed throughout the Hudson
Valley for over 45 years and this "Swingtime!" show is the eleventh in a series of “Big Band
Style” shows that have been presented. Over the past seven shows, more than fifty
thousand dollars have been raised for Sparrow's
Nest of the Hudson Valley. In 2020, The Big Band Sound was
recognized by the Dutchess County Executive's Arts Awards with their Special
Citation.
This year's show will be performed outdoors at Freedom Park Bandshell
in the Town of LaGrange. The park is located at 212

Friday, June 7th, 2024 - Outdoor Concert, Dover Plains
The Dover High School Music Boosters will be hostingThe Big Band Soundin a fundraising concert this evening outside Dover High School from 6 to 8 p.m., for our 12th time. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this concert of favorite jazz standards,
plus there will be classic cars on display. Members of the school's jazz ensemble will join us at the end of the evening in a grand finale! Admission is $10 per vehicle and the proceeds will benefit the music education offerings at the school. The Boosters will be grilling up hamburgers and offering refreshments for sale. Saturday, June 8th, 2024 - Outdoor Concert, Boscobel Pack a picnic and a blanket and join us at Boscobel where The Big Band Soundwill be giving a concert from 6 to 8 p.m. outside this historic mansion overlooking the Hudson River. Enjoy the beautiful views, the beautiful music, and an outdoor dance floor at this special Big Band Night. Monday, July 22nd, 2024 - Outdoor Concert, Amenia As part of the Town of Amenia's summer concert series, The Big Band Soundwill be performing this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the field next to Amenia Town Hall. Admission is Free and bring your lawn chairs and picnic to enjoy the shade and the swinging music. If it should rain, this concert will be held the next day on Tuesday, July 23rd, at the same time.
